Free Email Verifier

Verify an email address before you send. The demo allows a few free checks per day.

Free email check: a few per day, nothing stored to an account.

Syntax, MX, SMTP and catch-all checks, with context.

Email checks are free. If you reach the daily demo limit, the widget will say so and you can sign in to use your CheckMX workspace.

What an email verifier does

An email verifier tests whether an address is likely to accept mail without sending a message to it. Mistyped, abandoned or made-up addresses bounce, and a high bounce rate can hurt your sender reputation with mailbox providers. Checking a list first lets you remove the addresses most likely to bounce and look more closely at the ones that are uncertain.

The checks behind each verdict

  1. Syntax. The address must be well formed, with one local part and a valid domain.
  2. Mail records. The domain needs MX records, or an address record that can receive mail. A domain with a null MX says it accepts none.
  3. SMTP conversation. The verifier connects to the mail server and asks whether it would accept the recipient, then disconnects without sending a message.
  4. Catch-all detection. It also asks about a random address on the same domain. If the server accepts anything, a positive answer for your address proves little.

How to read the result

Deliverable
The server accepted the recipient. That is a strong signal, not a promise that a message will reach the inbox.
Risky
The answer is uncertain, for example because the domain is a catch-all. CheckMX keeps these separate rather than calling them good.
Invalid
The checks indicate the address cannot receive mail.
Unknown
The server timed out, deferred or blocked the connection, so no answer was possible. Unknown results are not charged.

What no verifier can promise

Some providers accept every recipient and decide later, some throttle or block probing, and a mailbox can fill up or be closed after the check. Verification also does not establish consent: only contact people you have a valid reason to contact, and honor opt-outs. If you check many addresses, you can upload a CSV of up to 2 MB and 10,000 unique addresses per job in the dashboard.

Check the domain too

If a verdict puzzles you, inspect the domain directly with the MX record lookup, then review its SPF and DMARC records. This page uses the same demo as the email validator.
